Corvid Chaos DVD by David James (Hunters Vermin) DVD (PAL) 118 minutes
I wanted to switch off after just 15 minutes of this two-hour long film – not due to it boring me… but because it so inspired me to ‘get out there’, my trigger finger was itching beyond belief! It took David James – better known by his YouTube tag, Hunters Vermin – almost two years to put this, his first feature-length movie, together. But the result of all those painstaking hours filming in the field is phenomenal… and I wouldn’t be surprised if Corvid Chaos goes on to become a best-selling airgun hunting video of all time. As its name suggests, the two DVD discs (each of which are around an hour long) contain mainly pest control footage of crows and magpies, including the crafty ‘grey-back’ crows native to his Northern Ireland hunting grounds. However, there are also great scenes devoted to rabbit stalking, woodpigeon decoying and hide-building – all of which are very professionally presented with on-gun film footage of the forays. Rather like the ‘director’s cut’, David eloquently narrates the shooting action as it unfolds in front of him, passing on countless tips, advice and an insight into his own techniques as the hunt progresses. Although David uses rifles rated at 15ft/lb and beyond, the methods he uses throughout the movie rarely require long-range shots to be made, thus making this double DVD set very valuable to the sub-12ft/lb hunter. And with two discs included in the price, it’s a no-brainer for anyone interested in pest control with the air rifle.

Having watched all of David James's HuntersVermin youtube clips over and over, and found them all thoroughly enjoyable, it had to follow that I should purchase his Corvid Chaos DVD. I received it less than a week ago and have watched it 4 times already. It is a very well put together series of clips showing Davids vermin control activities on farmland in Northen Ireland. Plenty of variety of corvids, woodies and rabbits fall to Davids superb shooting skills, whilst he clearly narrates through the why's and wherefores of his actions, giving relevant information. He shows how to build hides for concealment in the field, as well as giving plenty of hints and tips.
Whether you just 'plink' at targets in the garden with your air rifle, or hunt for vermin, you will find this DVD very enjoyable indeed.
A super job by David.
